FanSight: an AI-assisted direct-to-fan intelligence platform for independent music
FanSight is designed to help artists and their teams understand what fans want, how audience relationships are changing, and how their releases and campaigns land, without needing a major-label analytics budget. By making fan intelligence accessible, affordable and usable, the project aims to support smarter decisions, stronger relationships and more sustainable artist careers.
The project addresses a clear gap in the independent music sector. Both owned and public data are already being generated across multiple platforms, but it is fragmented and difficult to interpret. Artists can see activity in pieces, yet they rarely have a single, accessible view of fan sentiment, demand, and audience growth over time. FanSight brings those signals together in a GDPR-compliant way.
At the heart of the platform is a two-layer model: a social-listening layer that reads public fan conversation across social channels, and a consent-gated community layer built on artists’ own Discord servers, with anonymised member data and message analysis only where the artist opts in. AI tags what fans are asking for, from merch and re-releases to tour locations, and tracks sentiment, song mentions, audience growth and campaign attribution. Teams can measure the before-and-after impact of any release or announcement, and ask questions about their audience data in plain English.
Big Cookie Digital is developing the product with support from Reverb Data. The work builds on a proof of concept already running across several artist communities, and will develop the data pipeline, dashboarding and recommendations needed for a wider real-world pilot. The aim is to validate the model on live data, then turn that into a licensed product for artists, managers and small labels.
The FanSight project is one of six SME-led projects awarded funding from the MusicFutures Innovation Funding Call to develop and scale new products, services or experiences across the music sector in the Liverpool City Region.
